David Perkins scored a superb equaliser in the 87th minute as Barnsley drew 1-1 at home to Crystal Palace on Tuesday night.

The midfielder curled the ball into the top corner from 22 yards to cap an impressive individual performance and rescue the Reds from back-to-back home losses.

Palace dominated the first 15 minutes and took the lead when Glen Murray, who Keith Hill had at Rochdale, converted the second of three excellent chances.

Hill responded by taking Chris Dagnall off for Matt Done and replacing Saturday's match-winner Tomasz Cywka with Kelvin Etuhu inside 30 minutes as Barnsley changed to 4-5-1.

Lone striker Marlon Harewood and Done forced good saves out of visiting goalkeeper Julian Speroni.

After a frantic opening half hour, the game simmered down and Barnsley failed to trouble Speroni despite firing in plenty of crosses.

Perkins eventually salvaged a draw when he won possession in midfield, exchanged passes with Mellis and curled in a fine goal.
