Barnsley had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town at Oakwell on Saturday.

Town took the lead after six minutes through a cleverly worked set-piece which Aaaron Creswell hit from 20 yards. His weak effort trickled under Reds 'keeper Ben Alnwick, who should have done better.

But battling Barnsley fought back and dominated the rest of the clash, seeing a Stephen Foster header ruled out and having three shouts for penalties turned down.

The home side eventually got level through a Stephen Dawson wonder-goal. The midfielder picked up a long Jacob Mellis pass and volleyed into the roof of the net from 25 yards.

Dawson went close to giving the Reds all three points with a thunderous 30-yarder moments later while Chris Dagnall hit the post. But Barnsley lacked the quality in the final third to snatch the points. But their unbeaten record at Oakwell this season continues.

Afterwards, assistant manager David Flitcroft said: "We didn't pass the ball with the tempo we know we can do in the first half. The lads did everything they could have done in the second half but we didn't have that lucky break that we deserved."
