REDS' legend John Hendrie has named a town centre pub as the place to be before going to Oakwell.

'Super John', who played for the club between 1996-99, was endorsing the Manx Arms on Sheffield Road.

The pub was taken over by landlady Lyndsey Smith, 36, in March.

She is a huge Barnsley FC fan and has decorated the pub in memorabilia including football shirts, photographs and flags.

John said: "Lyndsey is a really big Barnsley fan and the amount of memorabilia in the pub is incredible. There are shirts from lots of different eras and photos for Barnsley fans to see.

"It's a good place for Barnsley fans to go, it's a very welcoming place and it's only a short walk down the hill on match days."

Lyndsey has also organised for supporters' buses to run run from the pub for every away game next season.
