Chris O'Grady's controversial second half penalty secured a point for Barnsley which took them off the bottom of the Championship after a 2-2 draw at home to Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday night.
Substitute Liam Lawrence won the spot-kick after tangling with Rovers skipper Grant Hanley and O'Grady fired in for his tenth goal of the season. Blackburn were furious with the decision.
The Reds had early taken the lead through debutant Nick Proschwitz but excellent goals by Tom Cairney and Rudy Gestede put the visitors 2-1 up at the break.
Yeovil lost a 2-0 lead in a 3-2 defeat at Derby which meant they are now bottom and the Reds one place above them in 23rd. Barnsley are also unbeaten in their three January league games.
Reds boss Danny Wilson admitted he was very disappointed with his side's first half display despite them taking a 29th minute lead through Proschwitz. The German stiker should have netted earlier when clean though but was denied by ex-England goalkeeper Paul Robinson. Proschwitz did eventually net with a fine volley from Dale Jennings' excellent cross.
But Blackburn were cutting through Barnsley with ease and had tested Luke Steele several times early on. The home stopper was eventually beaten by a sensational 30-yard volley from Cairney on 35 minutes.
Veteran David Dunn then turned Stephen Dawson with ease before setting up Gestede who fired home in the last minute of the first half.
Dawson was replaced by teenager Paul Digby at half-time and the Reds looked far more solid. They got back level through O'Grady's penalty then both sides had chances to win it late on.
