A GROUP of residents left with no streetlights, unfinished roads and pavements when a builder went bust are hopeful their housing estate will finally get finished after a two year battle.

House builder Custom Property Developments went into liquidation two years ago after finishing the houses on Highstone View, Worsbrough Common, but without finishing the roads and pavements.

Resident Kerry Jones, 51, said: "The fact there's no streetlights is really bad. It's absolutely pitch black down here once it's gone dark."

Coun Tom Sheard said: "The administrators Fox LLoyd Jones have now put a planning application in to repair the retaining wall which had collapsed.

"We are making progress, but we're not there yet. I have every sympathy with the residents and it's a shame it has taken so long.

"Clearly we couldn't use taxpayers' money to sort this out, as it's down to the builder."

He said it was in the liquidators' interests to finish the roads and pavements, as it would help them sell the remaining houses.
