THE SCHOOL of Rock has been set up in Darfield and wannabe teenage rock stars from the local area are invited to become students.

The rock star training session is run by Purple Monkey Music and has been arranged for August 28 at the Church Hall in Darfield.

Founder Emma Pearson says she is looking forward to working with children and teaching them a thing or two about rock and roll.

"Children will get to learn some riffs and a simple song or two," she said. "It would be lovely to get around eight kids there and have a proper band playing guitars, bass and some electric drums.

"Obviously we need a vocalist too to grab all the attention. We would like it if children from all around the area showed up and got involved."

The session starts at 1pm and is free but places are limited. The event has been arranged through ward alliance funding and more details are available through calling Councillor Caroline Saunders on 07786 525780.
