A ROYSTON man has made a new life for himself in China teaching English.

Richard Barnard, 24, who lived and grew up in Royston, moved to China in October 2011 after he had an opportunity to teach.

Elizabeth Barnard, Richard's mum said: "Everyone predicated that Richard would be home within a fortnight-but he wasn't.

"He first started working in a school in Changzhou, South East China, and stayed there until June 2013. Richard was also studying Mandarin in his spare time.

"When he passed level two Mandarin in June, he decided he wanted to take his studies further."
