THE RSPCA is hunting the owner of a little dog who was found wondering the streets with matted fur which had been infested with maggots.

The little Westie-type dog was almost unrecognisable because of his overgrown coat which was so matted that dreadlocks had started to form on his paws.

His fur was so dirty maggots had started living it.

He was found on Hope Avenue, Goldthorpe, on July 27 by a member of the public who called the animal charity.

The dog is currently being cared for by the RSPCA, but is not currently available for rehoming.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact inspector Jordan by leaving a message on 0300 123 8018.
