ROLL up, roll up...

Contestants are needed for a charity talent competition being held to raise funds for local creative arts charity EnRich.

It is being organised by Ellie Gillott, who is principal of the ACE Performing Arts Academy at Holy Trinity School in Athersley.

Ellie, 45, is on the lookout for amateur dancers, singers and musicians to take part - that is anyone who is not paid for what they do. Contestants will be judged by members of EnRich, which was set up in memory of Richard Tolson who was the head of music and performing arts at Barnsley College until his death in September 2013.

The talent show will be at Trades Club on Sunday, November 19, from 2-5pm.

It is the second time she has organised an event for the local charity, having put on a show at Take Two Academy theatre at Birdwell last year which raised £1,000.

Ellie, who went to college with Richard, said: “This year I’m wanting to do a charity talent competition.

“We’re looking for local, amateur dancers, singers and musicians. We have people from the charity judging including Richard’s wife Sarah, she was at college with us too.

“It will be a bit like Britain's Got Talent but all in good fun.”

The categories are: ten and under; 11-16s; 17-plus and adults. There will be trophies for the winners. A charity auction will be held with all ticket/auction proceeds going directly to EnRich.

The charity’s chairman Josie Whiteley said: "We are really pleased Ellie is organising this talent show to help raise funds for EnRich. It should be a fantastic event and we are looking forward to being on the judging panel.

"Ellie and ACE have been extremely supportive of EnRich and have already raised a lot of money for us - we are really grateful for their continued support and look forward to this event.”
