LEUKAEMIA sufferer 'Super' Dan Moxon has been posthumously nominated for a Proud of Barnsley award for selflessly raising money for charity.

Dan, 24, was given months to live last year but did not lose his fight for life until on June 6.

Despite being given the devastating news that his illness was terminal, he vowed to carry on fighting and jumped 15,000ft out of a plane to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Dan, formerly of Swanee Road, Kendray, and known as 'Super Dan' to his family and friends, was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2009.He received a bone marrow transplant but relapsed last year.

He has been nominated by his friend Michael Hardy, of Mysten Croft, Barnsley, who said his fund-raising summed up the kind of person he was.

He said in his nomination: "Daniel's selfless nature meant that the money he raised from the sky dive went to a charity other than the one his friends and family had set up to send him to America for potentially life saving treating. This sums up the type of person he was."

Michael said prior to the jump, Dan had spent several months in a hospital bed in the Royal Marsden in London and even though he was in severe pain, he dressed up on Hallowe'en as Batman to give presents to children on the ward.

"These are just a few of the reasons why 'Super Dan' Daniel Moxon has made me proud to be from Barnsley."
