SHE almost slipped away but a corn snake found in Wombwell Cemetery is now content in a local pet shop.

The orange and white coloured snake was discovered on Saturday by Friends of Wombwell Cemetery member Ray Mangham, 81, of Summer Lane.

He deftly managed to capture the snake before taking it to the Aqua Inn store on Park Street.

The snake, estimated to be two-years-old and about 3ft long, is now settled, and regaining its health.

It's believed the snake was kept as a pet and had been dumped in the cemetery.
