A SPECIALIST weekly disco for children and adults with learning difficulties has started in Thurnscoe.

Graham Little, owner of Bridge Medical Solutions, has worked as a DJ in the past and wanted to put on the event in the community.

"It is still in its infancy but at least a dozen have been coming so far which has been pleasing," said Graham, 53. "The fact is there is no provisions on a night time for people with learning difficulties.

"Support workers have been having to take people to Barnsley, Rotherham or Huddersfield so we felt they needed a place locally."

The not for profit discos are ran by Graham and his wife Alison who run their company from Ashberry Close in the town.

People with conditions such as Down's Syndrome and Asperger's syndrome and cerebral palsy have attended the discos so far.

The discos take place on Tuesday nights at St Helen's church community hall on Main Street and start at 6pm.
