Now then, now then...Sir Jimmy Savile’s prized, three-wheeler bubble car will roll into Mapplewell to go on show in a new care home.

Angela Swift owns Silk Healthcare which is opening the Mapplewell Manor home on Greenside Avenue.

She spent £22,000 on the quirky car at a charity auction held in Leeds on Monday and plans to put the 1965 BMW Isetta 300 Plus on show in the home’s reception.

“The new home specialises in dementia care and it will be good for residents because it is nostalgic and will bring back memories for them.”

She decided to bid for the car after Sir Jimmy did a good turn for her when he opened another home she owns in Yarm, Stockton-on-Tees.

She said: “He turned up for free, despite celebrities asking for £20,000.”

Angela said buying the car was a way of repaying the ‘generosity’ shown by Sir Jimmy and to give something back to his charitable trust.
