IT is a 3D design come to life and took almost three months to create but this helmet scooped an award for the student who created it.

Barnsley College student Adam Goodwin has been awarded the principal's award for this helmet.

It was inspired by his hero Valentino Rossi, an Italian professional motorcycle racer and multiple MotoGP world champion.

Adam, 20, of Cloister Way, Grimethorpe, designed a crash helmet that echoed the lines of Rossi's motorcycle and featured the bright colours and designs which make his race bike and leathers so recognisable.

The crash helmet, made from mdf, has been shaped, sanded, hand detailed and varnished, finished with foam pads for comfort.
