TWO Tankersley sisters are in the running for glamorous jobs working as stunt horse riders in TV and film.

One of the sisters - Chrystal Waterhouse, 19 - is also competing later this month in the 'Stunt Cheerleading World Championships' in Disney World, Florida.

Barnsley College student Chrystal and her sister Vanessa, 21, are experts in stunt cheerleading, which is a kind of gymnastic horse riding.

Chrystal, who went to Birdwell school, entered the world of stunt cheerleading after having to finish an international career in acrobatic gymnastics when she could not find a partner of suitable age, size and ability.

She joined a team in September 2013 at the Aviator Allstars cheerleading club in Leeds. Although new to cheerleading, she had already acquired the right skills from her acrobatic training at Wakefield Gymnastics Club.

Her dad Stephen Waterhouse, of Chapel Road, said: "Chrystal is not only known for her gymnastics but for her circus skills such as swinging trapeze, aerial silks and fire eating. Also she is a member of Barnsley Judo Club.

"She had already won medals for acrobatics including gold medals in Europe in 2010 and 2012 and the British Championships acrobatic gold medal in 2013."

The sisters were spotted by a company which works with the Merlin TV series and also made Robin Hood in 2010. The girls did a riding assessment on 'King Arthur's horse' from the current Merlin series.

Both girls are set to join the company later in the year once Chrystal has finished at Barnsley College where she is studying performing arts.

Stephen said: "The girls are all set to be travelling around the world working behind the scenes and appearing in new films and TV shows."
