A teenager from Barugh Green had to be cut free from a van after a three-vehicle collision in Athersley South.

 

The 17-year-old was a front passenger in a Ford Courier and became trapped after it was in collision with a parked silver Volkswagen Golf on Wingfield Road at about 10pm in Friday.

 

He was cut out of the vehicle by fire-fighters and suffered a broken leg.

 

The driver suffered slight bruising to his head and a second passenger, an 18-year-old man from Lundwood, suffered bruising to his forehead and a knee

injury.

 

All three were taken to Barnsley Hospital.

Police said the van was being driven by an 18-year-old, from Lundwood, is believed to have been travelling down Wingfield Road towards Laithes Lane when it collided with the Volkswagen.

 

The Volkswagen was pushed into a garden wall by the impact which caused the van to spin and collide with a blue Vauxhall Safira.
