A SERIAL marathon runner whose medals were stolen during a break-in has appealed for information.

Bert Beaumont, of Church Street, Darfield, has completed 20 full and 100 half marathons and proudly displayed a selection of his accolades on his conservatory’s wall.

But thieves broke in at some point between midnight and 2am last Saturday, leaving 75-year-old Bert shocked as to why they would take them.

“It’s strange as they’re of no value to anyone but myself,” Bert said. “They won’t be worth anything and they didn’t take much else other than them. There’s CCTV footage of them using a crow bar to get in so I’ll be passing it onto the police.

“I didn’t hear a thing even though I was upstairs at the time it happened.

“I’m disappointed as I worked hard to get those medals. I’m proud of them so I had a few of my favourites, like the one I received following the London Marathon, pinned on the wall.

“I know there’s more important things going on but I’d just like someone with information to come forward. I’d love for them to be returned.”

Contact police on 101 if you have any information.
