COMMUTERS heading in to Barnsley have been warned that delays are likely after the M1 was closed.

The motorway has now reopened only on lanes two and three between Junction 37 (Barnsley) and Junction 38 but the Barnsley access remains closed due to the investigation works.

It is thought a mini bus crash earlier this morning caused the closure.

A signed diversion is available for all northbound traffic which should exit at J37 and follow the "hollow square" symbol" via the A628 towards Penistone, join the A629 towards Shepley, take the A635 towards Denby Dale and then join the A636 towards Wakefield to rejoin the M1 northbound at J39.
