PARENTS of a 22-year-old Sunday league footballer who died suddenly after collapsing at training last week say they have been 'deeply moved' by the respect shown to him by the local footballing community.

Mykal Porter - known affectionately as Harry - collapsed on Thursday night while training with his shocked Carlton Athletic team - they had believed him to be fit and healthy.

Teams across Barnsley held a minute's silence at matches on Sunday and the Barnsley Sunday League Forum on Facebook was flooded with hundreds of tributes from stunned team mates and opponents alike. Respects will also be paid at this Sunday's morning games.

His funeral will take place at Ardsley Crematorium on Tuesday at 2.30pm, followed by a wake at the Corner Pocket. Donations in lieu of flowers will be collected to the fund in Mykal's memory.
