Barnsley drew 1-1 with FA Cup finalists Hull City in their first home match of pre-season on Saturday.

Home goalkeeper Adam Davies gifted the Tigers the lead early in the second half when his clearance was blocked by Shane Long and went in. But Barnsley levelled on the hour through Conor Hourihane who fired into an empty net after visiting stopper Edin Jakupovic had completely missed a long ball.

The Reds played some good football and had more efforts on goal than their Premier League visitors in front of a crowd of 2,929.

Martin Cranie played the full game after missing the trip to Italy to speak to Blackpool but Tom Kennedy, who also stayed in the UK and is not thought to be part of Danny Wilson's first team plans, did not feature. There was also no place for triallist Will Hoskins in the squad but former Manchester United youngster Reece Brown looked solid at right-back as he played the whole game after starting training at Oakwell on Friday.

Kane Hemmings and Jean Yves M'voto missed the match with injuries while this week's new signings Ross Turnbull, James Bailey and Sam Winnall all came off the bench.
