UNIFORMS at Kirk Balk in Hoyland are set to get a new look following requests from parents.

The community college has set up a uniform consultation online survey open to parents, students and governors. It invites them to express their views on uniform to be worn at the college from September and features proposals for all years, with different options for blazers and footwear. There is also a question if ties should be compulsory.

The present uniform was introduced about five years ago.

Vice principal Roger Goodwin said: "We have had many requests to review the uniform with some people saying it looks more primary than secondary.

"We decided to have a big debate. We did a smaller school survey first and the responses that came back were for a more formal uniform."

The online survey closes today (March 28).
