A SEESAW broken in half by vandals at a Monk Bretton park will not be replaced with a new one.
Coun Margaret Sheard said the metal spring-mounted seesaw in Silverdale Community Park looks to have been cut in half where the seat joins the frame using some kind of tool.
"It will cost about £1,800 to replace," she said. "We are looking in to it to see if it can be repaired and if not it will have to be removed because we can't afford to keep paying out to replace things.
"It is a lot of money and it's a shame because it's the kids who lose out and all it is doing is depriving them of a good area to play in."
Coun Sheard said there had also been a spate of vandalism in Littleworth Park, off Littleworth Lane, which had resulted in a children's seating area being broken.
She urged locals to contact any of the Monk Bretton councillors if they see any vandalism taking place.
