Josh Wale is determined to add his name to the history books now that he has had his dream British title shot confirmed.
Brampton's Wale, 25, set his heart on becoming British champion early on in his career and his 24th professional outing will be for the Lord Lonsdale belt.
The super-bantamweight will rematch with Doncaster's Gavin McDonnell in the summer for the title with the fight expected to be televised by Sky Sports and staged in Hull.
Wale said: "The British title is everything I've always been working towards and this is my shot. People have told me for a long time that I'm good enough to win a British title and it's my chance to prove it.
"Just because I lost to Gavin the first time doesn't mean anything. Lots of rematches in boxing go the other way. As an amateur I tended to do better the second time around and I learned plenty about him the first time. There will be a different approach this time and it's something myself, my dad (trainer Mick) and Carl Greaves (manager) will sit down and talk about."
The previous holders of the British title from Barnsley were featherweight Charlie Hardcastle, who held the belt in 1917, and Chris Saunders, who won it at welterweight in 1995. Adding his name to the list is Wale's remaining goal.
