IT'S like no other shop you've ever been in - and it's right here in Barnsley.

Step inside the Barnsley Antiques Centre and be intrigued by the weird and wonderful things therein.

Ancient shop signs, real 1960s' London street markers, unique homemade doubleneck guitars made back in the 1940s from tin cans. Bakelite tv sets, lava lamps, Damien Hirst-style dissected animals - a rat and a rabbit - in glass cases all feature within.

These are just a few of the things in this Aladdin's Cave created in Old Doncaster Road by business partners Danny Parker, 42, and Rachel Archer 38.

Both collectors of zany stuff for years, they met trying to outbid each other at an auction at Wilby's.

Rachel, originally from Penistone and now living in Park Grove, said: "We wanted to specialise in the unusual and for people to walk in and just say wow.

"Some say it's weird and yeah, I suppose you could say that. But we didn't want to create a traditional antiques shop."

It is expected to open at the end of the month.
