A FAMILY who were injured in a smash on the M1 are recovering as police launch an appeal for witnesses to the crash.

 

The accident happened on the M1 at around 4.35am on Wednesday - it's left a mother with life-altering injuries to her arm and a fou-year-old boy with a broken arm

 

Emergency services were called to reports that a minibus had collided with the central reservation of the northbound M1 motorway, between junctions 37 at Dodworth and 38 at Woolley.

 

Five of the six children in the car, aged between four months and nine years, suffered only cuts and bruises.

 

Another adult in the vehicle, a 19-year-old man from Leeds, suffered serious injuries.

 

The children's father, a 33-year-old man from Leeds, was driving the white Renault Traffic vehicle. It is thought that he was unhurt.

 

All of those injured were taken to hospital in West Yorkshire for treatment.
