WOMFEST is guaranteed to be double the size of last year, with the first raft of bands already announced.

The festival will be played across numerous venues in Wombwell, with Jake Sharpe, a solo artist from Darfield who made his name at the same event last year, already signed up.

One of the organisers Tony Plunkett, 39, added: "It's great to get so many bands and acts signed up early because last year was a bit of a rush job.

"This year the bands have come to us rather than us chasing them.

"We have about 25 acts confirmed so far and there will be more to come because we have 24 hours of music to fill."

Dearne indie rockers The Starkins and The Sherlocks have both announced they will play over the two days on July 26 and 27.

Venues included are Squires, The Prince of Wales, The Old Town Hall, KGs, The Alma, and the Last Orders.

Others acts who will play one of the two days are Whizzkid, Green Day UK, Cracking Right Foot and Pulp Friction.

Organisers are hoping to raise £10,000 for Help For Heroes.
