SKATERS are being invited to join world champion Jenna Downing at the new Hoyle Mill skatepark's official opening.
The £100,000 skatepark, in the grounds of Dearne Valley Country Park, has been attracting skateboarders, BMXers and scooter riders from far and wide since and will be officially opened by Barnsley Mayor Coun Tim Shepherd at 11.45am on Saturday.
The fun kicks off at 11am with a coaching session run by Team Extreme, a bunch of professional skateboarders, BMXers and inline skaters with years of competition and show experience.
One of those performing stunts will be Jenna, 26, who grew up on West End Crescent in Royston.
Jenna and the rest of Team Extreme will perform a display at midday, showing off their skills and stunts, followed by a competition between 12.30pm and 3pm.
