WWE WRESTLING superstars Fandango and Layla dropped in at a Barnsley primary school to body-slam them into submission on the importance of reading.

The two professional American wrestlers gave a talk to children at Birdwell Primary explaining the importance of reading, after the school took part in a National Literacy Trust WrestleMania reading challenge.

Four year five boys entered the challenge – Bailey Denton, Zbigniew Domin, Ryan Johnson and Daniel Pollard.

Teacher Sam Priest said: "Bailey reached the final four from hundreds and hundreds of entries, but unfortunately didn't win.

"However, he did say that he thought the visit from WWE Superstar Fandango and WWE Diva Layla was better than winning and getting tickets to a live wrestling event, as it was like the whole class got a prize instead.

"Reading has such a high profile in our school, and this visit was such an amazing way for our school to be rewarded for all the reading competitions we take part in."
