YORKSHIRE Tiger has launched an investigation into the state of buses in their Barnsley depot after safety concerns were raised.

The firm said the safety of their passengers and drivers is their number one priority but admits it is looking into the claims raised by driver Gregg Mallinson, who resigned this week because he claimed he had been ‘forced to take buses unfit for service, out in service.’

Gregg, 37, of Tingle Bridge Lane, Hemingfield, claimed a bus with faulty brakes had been sent out for service by mistake because paperwork for it to be repaired had not been done.

He also told of defective speedometers and electrical problems. His claims were backed up by existing members of staff, who said they had been warned by the company not to speak to the media.
