A BRAMPTON youngster who was appalled that people were dying as they have nothing to drink but dirty water pleaded with his grandma to do a charity run.
Jake Bolessa, six, of Gorse Close, watched a television story about the effects of infected water and decided to do his little bit to help.
He roped in grandma Margaret Walker, from Barnburgh, to run with him.
Proud dad Pete said: "Jake wanted to do the run to raise money for people who are dying from having to drink dirty water.
"His grandma is a keen runner and she organised for him and her to the run with the expectation that he would either forget or not want to do it when the event got closer.
"Over the weeks building up to it he became more motivated and even did a dummy run a week before to see how long a mile actually was.
"He managed to get £130 in sponsorship and completed the full distance without having to walk once."
Jake, who attends Brampton Ellis Infants, hopes to run for more worthy causes in the future after completing the mile at Clifton Park in Rotherham.
