A voluntary group wants generous Chronicle readers to help make sure its awards ceremony this weekend goes with a bang.

The Barnsley Parent and Carer Forum, for families with disabled or special needs children, will be hosting its second 'above and beyond' ceremony at BFC Legends Suite, Oakwell, on Saturday.

It's booked the room, food, DJ and awards, but does not have enough to run to decorations, balloons or flowers.

Organiser Rachel Corrall said: "Last year we dressed the chairs and tables, but this time we don't have the budget for decorating.

"If anybody has balloons or anything to make it look nice for the kids, or flowers or chocolates we could give to the kids that would be fantastic."

Awards will go to children who have excelled or overcome adversity. There are also awards for professionals who have gone 'above and beyond' their duties to help the children.

Anyone who can help should contact Rachel on: 07743799496.

The parent and carer forum was formed in 2009 and launched its awards last year. About 200 people are expected to attend.
