ROCKINGHAM cricket club have been bowled over by their new signing all the way from Rockingham - in Australia.

Chris Sherwin, 21, has swopped his cricket club in Perth for its namesake in Hoyland Common.

The fast bowling all rounder is used to playing club cricket alongside Mark Pettini and Ravi Bopara of Essex and England.

Captain Richard Skipworth said he has already delivered for the club.

He said: “On his debut last weekend he took three wickets for 41 runs which was fantastic.”

And the young Aussie seems to be enjoying himself at the same time.

He said: “He's been drunk every night since he got here. I think he likes life in England.”

The third international signing came about after the club chairman went to the Ashes last winter. Clive Shaw saw Rockingham on the map 'down under' and went along to a match.
