PUPILS took to the streets of Barnsley to help make the local area a nicer place to live.
Year nine ambassadors from Horizon Community College headed to the area around their school, including Dodworth Road and Penny Pie Park, to tidy up for local residents and the school community.
The ambassadors worked with staff, including head of school Tom West, in areas they had previously identified as needing attention.
They worked for two hours to make a significant impact, filling more than 20 bags with rubbish.
The ambassador scheme at Horizon is designed to give students a chance to be rewarded and let them make a positive impact throughout the school and local community.
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
