A FORMER Cudworth Village Club worker has celebrated her 100th birthday.

May Myatt was born on a farm in Ireland along with her three younger brothers, but later moved to England in 1936 to become a nanny for wealthy families. She then later worked in an ammunition factory.

May later moved to Yorkshire and began working with her brother at Cudworth Village Club, which is where she met her husband Bill Myatt of Myatt Transport.

Bill and May married in 1975 and moved to Pioneer Bungalow on Barnsley Road in Cudworth, in which they raised four children.

May was a very social member of the community and made lots of friends through her job in the club. She also regularly helped out in George’s Papershop and attended St John’s Church every Sunday.

She used to attend the weekly bingo sessions at McDonald’s where she would catch up with her friends over a hot chocolate.

May still buys the Chronicle every week to catch up on what’s happening around the Cudworth area and to check notices to see if she can trace any old friends she has lost contact with.
