WITNESSES are being sought following a common assault at Barnsley Interchange.
On July 26, a teenage girl is reported to have grabbed a man’s earphones from his ears and thrown his phone onto the floor following an argument on platform two at the train station.
Following this, the girl, who has since been identified by police, boarded a train to Leeds.
However, British Transport Police have asked witnesses to come forward so they can establish the full circumstances behind the incident.
A spokesman said: “If you saw the incident contact BTP by texting 61016, or by calling 0800 405040 and quoting reference number 516 of July 26.”
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
