POLICE investigating an alleged burglary believe it was a targeted incident.

At around 10.30am on Sunday, a man armed with a knife reportedly entered a property on Winterwell Road, Wath-upon-Dearne, and threatened the occupant before stealing an amount of cash.

Officers believe the victim was not the intended target, with the person thought to be the target no longer in the area at the time of the incident.

Members of the local Neighbourhood Policing Team remained in the area following the incident to provide reassurance to residents and answer their questions.
