AN EQUESTRIAN star has flown the flag for Barnsley at a national competition.
Amy Geraghty has won countless awards in a 16-year career showing ponies, with trophies and rosettes taking up almost every inch of her family home in Vernon Street, Hoyland.
And 27-year-old Amy, a relative veteran in her own right who owns four ponies, came runner-up in the veteran class at the prestigious national Equine Sports UK competition in Grantham after landing a place in the final.
“There were hundreds of people there, it’s a massive show” said mum Josie, 68, of Vernon Street.
“For her it’s just another one on top of the others. Showing ponies is a full-time thing for her.”
Amy also recently competed at Ledston Hall in Castleford, coming away supreme champion at the Equestrian Life summer show in July with her 18-year-old fell stallion Davey, and supreme champion at the D and C Equine show with a 17-year-old fell mare.
