MONK Bretton Methodist Chapel has fitted the first defibrillator in the village.

After the church agreed last autumn to begin fund-raising for a community defibrillator to be mounted on their premises, their target was to see it in position by the summer and it then developed into a community project with support from Sainsbury’s Local, A Hadfield Funeral Services and the U3A Sequence Dance Group, all at Monk Bretton.

Marie Rusling, who spearheaded the fund-raising and work involved, said: “Thanks for all the wonderful community support. The target was reached and the defibrillator was fitted last week. Saving lives was the real target and inspiration for the project.”

There was also a beetle drive held at the church which raised more than £300.
