THE Brexit Party has named its parliamentary candidate for Barnsley Central at the next general election.

Michael Ogle, a self-employed graphic and web designer who lives in Darton, will contest the constituency currently held by Labour’s Dan Jarvis MP.

Michael said: “In 2016, 68.2 per cent of Barnsley Central residents voted to leave the EU. I was one of those people, and felt a great pride when putting my ‘X’ in the box.

“Since then, democracy has been betrayed, and the people of Barnsley have been left frustrated, just like myself. This is our chance to change that, and that’s why I’m standing with The Brexit Party.”

The candidate said he wants to focus on ‘tailor-made’ policies for Barnsley, including more action on drug misuse and the protection of green spaces and parks.
