Royston teenager Billy French-Wilson finished on the podium at the British Championships in Sheffield.

The 16-year-old, and his partner Lucy Hancock from Rotherham, came third in the junior dance category.  The two pairs who beat them are due to move up into the senior category for next season.  Billy, a national champion at a younger age group before moving up to the junior section, is hoping to compete in the Winter Olympics in the future.

Billy, who skates six days a week as well as attending college, said: “We’re really happy, it was a very good result.  “We got a lot of very positive feedback with judges, spectators and other skaters all saying that we skated beautifully. “The aim is now to work on some new choreography and go to some bigger competitions then try to come back to the nationals next year and win it.”
