A MAPPLEWELL resident has made her own DIY advent calendar to raise money for Barnsley Hospice.

Emma Morris, a consultant for Temple Spa, auctioned off her own Christmas-themed calendar filled with luxury spa goodies.

Emma sold raffle tickets at £3 per person to offer people the chance to win, and raised £209.

On Tuesday, Emma and her son Alfie visited the hospice to hand over the cheque to the staff.

“I attended Barnsley Hospice this morning with the proceeds from my charity fundraiser, with my little helper Alfie,” she said.

“I raised over £200 through raffle ticket donations, where people had a chance to win a Temple Spa advent calendar full of luxury spa goodies that I put together, which was worth £130.

“I wanted to choose a local charity who has cared for people close to my heart - Barnsley Hospice do fantastic work in our community and deserve all the support.

“I have been overwhelmed by people’s generosity.

“Many people who I didn’t know bought tickets and really wanted to get behind the fundraiser and I loved donating the luxury Temple Spa advent calendar to the winner.

“It was heart-warming to hand over the proceeds to Barnsley Hospice today and I’m so grateful to everyone for helping me raise over £200 for them.”
