RULING cabinet members will be asked to approve the development of 16 energy-efficient and low carbon homes this week.

The proposals, for Billingley View, Bolton-on-Dearne, will be discussed on Wednesday.

A council report said the ten two-bed and six three-bed homes will be managed by Berneslai Homes, using technology such as air source heat systems and solar panels.

Coun Tim Cheetham, cabinet spokesperson, said: “These homes propose a real opportunity for changing the way we develop houses to be more environmentally friendly and reach our 2040 aims.

“The designs for these homes have been used on previous sites and have been extremely popular.

“The development will take an empty site and turn it into something beneficial for both our residents and our carbon emissions.”
