A STEEL memorial tree is being unveiled outside a school today.

Brian Clegg, 66, died suddenly while he was on holiday in Cuba in 2018.

The retired service engineer was the chairman of governors at Ward Green Primary, based on Vernon Road, Worsbrough, for more than 25 years.

Brian’s granddaughter, Hannah Maybury, teaches year five pupils at the school and was touched when her colleague, Laura Dawson, advised her that a steel memorial tree was being installed outside the reception.

Hannah said: “My granddad had a passion for education and he enjoyed being the chair of governors. As a family we are very pleased that there has been recognition for his commitment to the school.”

Laura Dawson said: “Brian was a well liked governor and he was very selfless and committed to his role.

“The steel tree will be a fitting tribute to Brian and we are looking forward to unveiling it to the family.”
