TRIBUTES have been paid to the centre manager at the Alhambra who died suddenly on Sunday.

John Tarrant had worked at the centre since January 2014 and had just celebrated his 63rd birthday when he died.

His interests were said to be music, reading, playing guitar and skiing. He was also said to have had an interest in football, rugby and golf.

A spokesman for the owner of the Alhambra said: “John’s leadership, commitment, professionalism and enthusiasm has ensured that the Alhambra Shopping Centre consistently evolved and improved over the years and testament that it today remains such a huge asset for the town.

“His ability to communicate at all levels, and the relationships he formed with everyone he met, both inside the shopping centre and also to the wider community, simply underlines his substantial contribution to Barnsley as a whole.

“Above all his unfailing humour wonderfully complimented the skills, strengths and total support of all his colleagues, especially his site management team - he will be deeply missed by all and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife and family.”
