A NEW business has landed in Barnsley town centre’s Market Kitchen and is set to open in a few weeks’ time.

Meze Kitchen is the last business which will be opening at the venue and is the brainchild of the same people who run The Lemon Tree, in Peel Square.

Erdal Sahan, manager of Meze, said: “Meze Kitchen will bring the flavours of The Lemon Tree, but also something different which will appeal to a wide audience.

“We believe that Meze Kitchen will complete the offer that is available in Market Kitchen.”

The independent food court is already home to three traditional market cafes, a dessert parlour and coffee shop welcomed flavours from around the world in October last year, including Indian, Thai and Balkan, along with a fully licensed bar, Cucina Sky Lounge.

In December, the space added stonebaked pizza and rotisserie duck, with the Meze Kitchen filling the last spot this month.

Coun Robert Frost, cabinet support member regeneration and culture, said: “The Lemon Tree is incredibly popular so it’s fantastic news for local people that the owners have decided to expand and open a new offer which I’m sure will be just as successful.

“Market Kitchen has become one of the go-to places in town since adding more options in October. We’re delighted with its ongoing success and the addition of Meze completes what was already a strong offer.”
