TWO puppies have been stolen during a burglary and the police have issued an appeal for their safe return.

On Thursday at 9pm, three men broke into a house on Sandybridge Lane, Shafton and stole two Belgian Malinois puppies, worth £1,200.

The men also stole a tree surgery climbing equipment kit bag, worth £2,000 before fleeing in a white BMW.

The owners and the police are now appealing for information to help locate the puppies, named Penny and Ruby.

A police spokesman said: “We have carried out an extensive line of enquiries. Can you help us reunite the stolen puppies with their owners?

“If you were in the area at the time and saw or heard anything suspicious, please get in touch.

“If you have seen two Belgian Malinois puppies for sale in the area, or if you have any information which might help us find them, please call 101 quoting investigation number 14/48303/20.”
