A TOWN centre gallery and events space has confirmed it will close in accordance with government guidelines on the coronavirus outbreak.
The Civic, on Hanson Street, said in a statement posted on its website today (Tuesday) that all upcoming events would be postponed until further notice and the building would be closed to the public with immediate effect.
The statement said: “To protect the health and wellbeing of our community - our staff, volunteers, visitors and you - we are postponing all upcoming events until further notice. We will continue to review the situation and developments regarding COVID-19.
“Our Box Office team will be contacting all customers with tickets booked with us for the current season. Please be patient with them; they will be especially busy at this time. Keep checking your emails and your phones.
“If you are attending a performance later in the year, our social media platforms will be the best channels for keeping updated with any changes.
“We apologise for any upset these postponements may cause, but our priority rests in ensuring that people stay safe. Many thanks for your understanding and continued support.
“Remember to look after yourselves and others.”
