BARNSLEY Hospital has restricted visiting hours and the number of visitors per bed in a bid to combat coronavirus.

With immediate effect, visiting hours will now take place between 2pm and 3pm and 7pm and 8pm.

The rule also applies if a patient is being taken to A and E. Children will only be allowed one parent or carer and only a single birth partner will be able to be present in the maternity unit and through labour.

If the person is receiving end of life care, this rule is exempt.

The hospital have also reminded the public not to visit the hospital or any other clinical setting if you have any symptoms of the virus or you are vulnerable as a result of medication, a chronic illness or over 70 years of age.
