BARNSLEY market has cut the number of stalls following the measures put in place by the government on Monday.

Only stalls selling meat, fish, bread, fruit and vegetables and other essentials will be allowed to trade.

They will be located in the meat and fish section of the market, and outside both market entrances on Cheapside and May Day Green.

Measures are to be put in place to implement social distancing, including controlling the number of people inside the market, barriers in front of stalls to control the distance between traders and customers and hand washing sinks at the entrance.

The outdoor market, and the car boot, will not take place until further notice, except for traders selling the essential goods listed above.
