FIREFIGHTERS were called to three fires across the borough on Thursday night - including two car fires.

A crew were called to Deepcar Lane in Cudworth, at 8.12pm, where a 4x4 was found completely burnt out, with surrounding fields alight.

This was dealt with by 9.47pm and the fire is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters were then called to a rubbish fire on Junction Street, Barnsley, at 10.25pm.

The rubbish was alight to the rear of several properties and was extinguished by 11.04pm - it is thought to have been started deliberately.

A crew were then called to a car fire on Queen Street, Thurnscoe at 10.30pm.

Upon arrival, they found a fire in the engine compartment of a car parked at the side of the road, which was ultimately dealt with by 11.08pm.

The fire is thought to have been started accidentally through an electrical fault.
